Harveys suck, let’s start with that. Whether hurricanes or Hollywood producers, Harveys are fed and fattened by money and power, and prey on vulnerable people. Especially women. Or so says the woman in No More Harveys, who has run away, or, as she puts it, “migrated,” from her abusive husband – also named Harvey. Traveling from New York to Alaska to reunite with her two bravest friends, she looks to the evolutionary path of whales to try to sort herself out and see a way forward. But migration is never as straightforward as it looks, especially when the entire ecosystem around you is furiously clinging to homeostasis.
No More Harvey presents a world in flux, dominated by colonial and patriarchal forces, where women emerge not as victims but as survivors. It shows how flawed our fossil fueled economic and political systems are, and how the many problems that plague our communities stem from the same roots.
No More Harveys is the third play of the Arctic Cycle.
